- DEFINITION -
1.  We take it for a major premise to protect our life by ourselves recognizing that life and death are
ins and outs each other.

2.  All our actions must be based on "GI": rectitude or justice <"SEI-GI":righteousness> always after the
best efforts to avoid that dangerous situation in advance to *Real Fight for self defense<"Jissen">.

3.  We learn street GOSHIN-JUTSU on fighting techniques from Japanese traditional BUDO <martial arts
> and develop them, provided that at the same time we learn "YUU", "JIN" and "CHI" which are the main
essence of Japanese BUSHIDO together with "GI" which is the base of them, in the keiko(training) of
BUDO GOSHIN-JUTSU.

We here give a definition
that our BUDO GOSHIN-JUTSU is established on New BUSHIDO
called    "BUSHIDO"
<that has the same pronunciation as original  >

These are the essence of our "BUSHIDO" spirit.

"GI" is the right way for all people to take. It is also righteousness we need not tell the reason.

"YUU" is doing what is right ("GI"). In order to fulfill that, we need technique to fight not to be defeated.

"JIN" is a tender virtue and mother-like. Love, magnanimity, affection for others, sympathy and pity, were
ever recognized to be supreme virtues, the highest of all the attributes of the human soul.

"CHI" must let us carry out "GI", "YUU" and "JIN" successfully and effectively.

4.  When we face Jissen, being not defeated is the first purpose of our BUDO GOSHIN-JUTSU. If we
are never defeated by him, we can take the chance to get away from him at his unguarded moment. We
simply take defeating him for one of the most effective ways not to be defeated or to run away from
danger.

5.  However, in Free Sparring called "Jiyuu-Kumite", we take it for the training "Keiko" to defeat each
other and to learn the real feeling on fighting. And having Matches and taking part in tournaments are
also supposed one of Keiko of Budo Goshin-jutsu <not Jissen> because they are performed in a rule
for control and shelter.

6.  We, even the young, the old, women and men, always take it for granted that we ought to respect "
BUSHIDO" spirit higher than sportsmanship.

*Jissen does not mean matches with followers of different schools or in tournaments but self-defense fight against unexpected, sudden and illegal assaults in backstreets and any place.

DIFFERENCES FROM MARTIAL ARTS AS A SPORT

<Sport Martial Arts>
Although that athletes well train bodies and practice fighting extremely hard to win a match, in fact they
have got quite ability, their fighting environment is usually favorable for safety, place and time, and
phisical conditions. I never have a negative opinion about that they get spiritual strength in the process
but it is also true that individually they fight to win. They can also concentrate their mind on the day of the
match. Especially their matches have a rule. Further, they are allowed to challenge the next match or
tournament again even if they lose it. The way to retire is also left to them if they do not want to fight any
longer.

<Budo Self-defense Arts ( Budo Goshin-jutsu ) >
Our first aim is not defeating an opponent completely but being not
defeated by any means. Defeating is just one of the most effective
means of being not defeated. It is unknown where, when and who
we are compelled to fight. There are no rules. There are no
referees. Further we must keep it in mind that an opponent may have
a weapon like a knife or a gun. More than anything else, to be
defeated sometimes means death (=to be killed) directly. Of course there is no repechages or no
consolation matches in Jissen (real fight for self defense) of our Budo Goshin-jutsu. And we can not find
any button to reset anywhere. So we need such a strong readiness facing jissen fight.
  GOSHIN RYU         in Gallivare, Sweden
Shi <death> must be the best friend in Jissen. We never turn away our eyes from Death. Recognizing
the existence of death we first make motivation to survive. "Give your life and you will take up life again."
BUSHIDO gives us tips not to be easily killed.

And our dictionary has no word "retire" in it. We should be BUSHI on our "BUSHIDO" all of the time and
during we live we ought to keep life until the nature brings death to us even if one arm or leg is lost. So
we should find how to fight for each age.
In our KEIKO (training), how to guard <techniques not to be defeated> must be taught in advance
before how to attack <techniques to defeat> or at the same time. Of course in Kumite keiko (sparring) it
is natural to have a will to win but we do not need to defeat our opponent completely. If we keep fifty-fifty
situation we must be able to have the chance to get away from danger. And as the previous stage, we
must remember it is very important that we have a sense to keep away the fight(Jissen) of no use.

We will never deny that each of athlete fighters have got a strong body and the physical ability. But in
Budo Goshin-jutsu, we do not need only unyielding mind and the skill to defeat an enemy with one
blow. There are no rules in Street Fight but we must follow the laws. We never commit a foul in all the
communities all over the world. If we continue unnecessary attack to an opponent though he has
already loses the will to fight, and if he gets dead in the worst case, we might be punished on the
charge of having injured him or as a murderer for Excess Defense. Our Budo Goshin-jutsu always asks
for the world of reality. That is to say, we must move within Legal Self Defense <SEITOU-BOUEI: The
36th of Criminal Law (in Japan)> . We do not want to be a jail bird for life even if we defeat him to help
own life.

BUT
IF BUDO GOSHIN-JUTSU DO THE FIGHTING *****
The height of the level of fighting skill is already corroborated

These photoes are of Ippei Tayama's <in zado-gi>

Ippei Tayama of ZADO JUKU<Vice-chairman of the League Directors/3-Dan Instructor 16y/o> fought in
PRIDE Challenge 16 in 2006 <-83kg :Light Heavy> Although unfortunately he lost the match by a foul, he
predominantly drove the opponent almost all of the time.

And at PRIDE Challenge 8 <in 2005 -65kg:Light>  Sei Miura of GOSHIN-SHA<Kan-cho/Vice-chairman of
the League Directors> won the match splendidly. He also has ever tried his skill with followers of different
schools <Taryu-jiai>lots of times and won them in his training age.

*"PRIDE" has changed into "DREAM" now.

Junichi Tayama <Chairman of the League Directors/ Juku-cho of ZADO JUKU (6-Dan)> also experienced
participating in "All Japan Karate-Do Championship Tournament of Kyokushin-kai" twice(the 8th and 10th) in
his youth. Or he went through some times of Taryu-jiai in the U.S. and Korea, of course a lot in Japan.

Besides them, in J. Tayama's Dojo<zado-juku> there are two followers <Deshi/Montei> who have black belts
of Kyokushin Karate. One of them was one of the opponents at the 100-person Kumite by Francisco Filio.
And the other one also has got Black belt of Sato-juku and ever took part in the tournament. They are now
devoting themselves for Budo Goshin-jutsu.

Of course, even someone quite a beginner will be able to get a black belt with constant Keiko. That is no
problem if you are young or old, a man or a woman. Then, we do not need think of "When to retire" in Budo
Goshin-jutsu. <The oldest of the League is 70 years old who acts as the representative of Goshin-Kai under
ZADO JUKU>

  At TOKYO BUDO-KAN

However, it is never in vain to participate in matches and tournaments in each sport competition like
karate, jujutsu, judo, and etc.. We are sure that it is rather significant. Within a limitation <different rules>,
it is leading to self-trust and motivation to get stronger to know our own ability by fighting with unknown
opponents. From that sense, we are positive that Budo Goshin-jutsu is also very good even for bringing
up children and juveniles.

The League of Japan Budo Self-defense Arts <Nippon/Nihon Budo Goshin-jutsu Renmei> is scheduled
to hold a Sogo-budo Interchanging<"Friendship" for kids> Competition Meet every year and we are
going to improve our minds, techniques and bodies through the fighting experiences. But we should
remember that going through matches is just a part of KEIKO <training> in our Budo Goshin-jutsu.

the 70-percent one for the tolerable,
and the perfect one for the worst!"

warrior in the age of wars <Sengoku-jidai> in Japan.
